The History of Peepa Bunny Dolls™
Collin & Dyri Rattlingourd have been making Peepa Bunny Dolls™ since 2011. They sold them under a former business entity called Cuddle Bat Graphics, LLC. This business name, once owned & operated by the couple has been disolved. Originally, Dyri had been doodling self portraits & character adaptations of pop cultural figures in a rounded style. The idea was inspired by the Dunny figure made by Kidrobot. The goal was to make licensed characters into little blunt, rounded stuffed animals. Then Funko came out with Pops. Dyri decided to try to make animals in this blunt, rounded form, looking now to Ugly Dolls for inspiration. Dyri had been making plush toys since 2005.
The first experiment was a rabbit. The original pattern was drafted from a sketch. The first dolls had been made by cutting along the lines of a design that had been printed onto fabric with a direct transfer design made by Dyri in Photoshop. Notable distortions in the form were seen where the ears & legs curved inward, compared to the pattern. The couple were happy with the design enough to move forward.
The next version became the final form. While sewing, the couple accidentally sewed the form fully shut. Stuffed dolls ought to have a gap in the seam for stuffing. Rather than tossing the form or using a seam ripper, a choice was made to cut the mouth from the form at this stage. The doll was then flipped, stuffed, & sewn shut at the mouth. This gives Peepa Bunny Dolls™ Their iconic face. Two buttons (or felt circles for pet toys) for eyes & a rough, hand stitched mouth with bits of fluff sometimes visible.
In 2012, the couple ran their own art show in Savannah, GA. This was a prime avenue for selling their dolls, along with other handmade crafts, art prints, & photography prints. They began selling the dolls wholesale to local boutiques, including Civvies, The Clothing Warehouse, Planet Fun, & Graveface Records & Curiosities.
There was a few years during which Peepa Bunny Dolls™ were not available. From 2014 through 2024 the couple only made the dolls for their friends & family. Full time jobs, moving, & major life changes prevented the labor of love that is making Peepa Bunny Dolls™. Dyri began vending art again in 2023. Collin resumed vending in 2024. The couple was operating two separate DBAs at the time. Dyri was using the brand Trash Clown Art. Collin was using the brand Rattograph. Collin started making Peepa Bunny Dolls™ & selling them under the Rattograph brand. The couple formed Rattlingourd Studio, LLC in 2026 & started making the dolls again in full force as a team.
